Flu during recovery

Hi im 10 weeks in from a redo fundoplication and developed the flu, apartfrom feeling really rough I feel as if the reflux is back,im regurgitating anything I eat or drink with an acidic taste.Im not sure if its the virus or ive damaged the wrap with all the coughing and sneezing? Barry

I don't think you have damaged the wrap. It's had time for the basic healing, but I'd say you have irritated it. If it's irritated it can swell again and cause reflux like symptoms until it goes down.

You likely irritated things, but at 10 weeks, scar tissue is strong, and you don't have to worry. I had a lung infection before and after my surgery, and have asthma. I coughed nonstop, and was very worried I was going to blow out my wrap. Thankfully, it survived and works just fine.

Don't worry a bit. That said, be sure you have some good anti-nausea drugs...there's a bad Norovirus going around this year, and repeated vomiting can be very damaging.
