Hi,
I am looking for a UK surgeon who specialises in motility problems. I want my hernia repaired without the fundoplication.
I live in Cheshire, can anyone recommend an excellent surgeon in the UK?
Many thanks.

Hi GC1lpink
I was under the impression that surgeons in the UK won't perform just the hernia repair. I'm not sure how you'll get around this.
Do you want just the repair because of your motility problems ?

Hi Mcedge,
I believe that there are some surgeons who will just perform the hernia repair without the fundoplication, and yes I don't want the fundoplication because of my motility problems.
All the best!

Could you ask your gastro consultant if they know of any surgeons that could just do the hernia repair.
The only other way is to ring hospitals that specialise in upper GI surgery. For example NUGGITS.
My surgeon has done surgery on patients with motility problems and I can give you his name if that's any help.
Good luck with your search.

Mcedge- Gastro consultant just wants to put me on a feeding tube - I have just fired him today. That would be great if you could give me the name of your surgeon and I'll have a look at NUGGITS too - your help is much appreciated!!
Jamosca: - Many thanks I'll start looking into these surgeons as well!

So sorry to hear that your consultant wants to put you on a feeding tube. That seems very drastic and I can understand that you want to get other opinions.
My surgeon was Peter Safranek he works at Addenbrookes in Cambridge. There is also another upper GI surgeon at Addenbrookes Richard Hardwick. Mr Hardwick is one of the top four surgeons in the country. Both of these surgeons do private work at the Lea Spire Hospital Cambridge and the Nuffield in Cambridge.
I hope you find help and answers soon.
