Update: 11 weeks, Barium swallow test today.
Today I had the barium swallow test. They had me swallow in a lot more positions than they had me do before. When I drank the barium, my whole esophagus from top to bottom ballooned, and eventually the liquid would go down, but you could see obvious resistance with liquids getting down. It takes several seconds for liquid to get past the wrap while in the upright position.
Not so in the laying down position. When I lay down, on my back or my side, no liquid at all gets past the wrap. Every last drop of what I drink balloons in my esophagus and does not get past the wrap, at least until I sit up again.
It would appear that I need gravity to get things past my wrap. Eating has still gotten slightly easier, but I did throw up some of my food again during lunch.
On the other hand when I got to work today, I was feeling so good physically that I felt some of the best improvements of my GERD to date. For a while I didn't even realize what was going on, but at some point when I was working at my desk, I realized that I was feeling pretty good. (The last few weeks weren't the greatest.) Enough to the point where there was no need to clear my throat or cough. I always have a huge difficulty concentrating, and caffeine is always a double edged sword in that it helps me concentrate and be more productive, but also makes my symptoms come back with a vengeance. After drinking some coffee, some of those symptoms did come back, but not as bad as usual. We will continue to see how long the periods of no acid reflux last. Of course I inflicted some of it on myself with that coffee. I was so much more productive working with it though.
