Anti sickness meds over the counter?

Hello everyone. Can anyone in the UK recommend a good OTC alternative to Cyclizine hydrochloride? I can't get anymore on prescription, the GP says I shouldn't need them now and I don't have my follow up appointment with the surgeon yet. I am taking a small dose of Tramadol on occasion because it reduces my belching and I can eat better with it, but I need the Anti sickness meds with it because the Tram does make me feel very sick.

I think it would be good to have some to hand for a good while yet. I'm only two month post Nissen and want to look after the wrap.

The OTC anti sickness pills I'm taking are Motilium. It's Domperidone, have you had that before? I've had it on prescription recently but I bought some OTC as Motilium to save going back to the doctors. You can buy it from Boots, etc and it's about £4.75 for a packet of 10. I find tramadol makes me queasy so I know what you mean.

Ah interesting, I have some domperidone in. The Cyclizine is an antihistamine, works like travel sickness pills. They work super fast too. I will give the domperidone a try, thanks for the idea. Never thought of using them for this!

Ah, well domperidone is an anti sickness tablet but it's not an anti histamine. It's a motility drug (prokinetic), my doctor prescribed it for nausea and I find it helps with my GERD too. But if you're looking for an anti histamine, have you looked at the sea sickness section of your local pharmacy? You can buy OTC several anti histamines in that section for the purpose of preventing nausea. You can buy "Avomine" which is promethazine theoclate or " Phenergan" which is promethazine hydrochloride. However I noticed that Phenergan says it's for short term use only and can have a sedative effect, so I don't think that would be suitable for your situation. Might be worth asking a pharmacist about Avomine though? I was prescribed it for for morning sickness in the past.

I would call your surgeon and ask for the anti nausea meds. You should keep them on hand just in case.

Most PCP don't realize the risk of not being able to vomit and dry heaves doing damage to the repair.
