I had acid reflux 3 years ago and went from 142 to 188 lbs. it took approx. 6 mos. before I became better.
now after 3 years I am beginning again. It came back because I wasn't careful about what I was eating and gradually went back to my old ways. After trying many pump prohibitors (which did not work) , I ended up with Zantac and CARAFATE (the Carafate coated my stomach, got rid of the nausea and the Zantac got rid of the acid. I weaned myself off the Zantac gradually while taking the CARAFATE.
I am uncomfortable now but I will start the process over and hopefully won't end up in the ER again. I know what's happening to my body this time and will nip it in the bud.
I was clear for three years and I can do it again. No spicey foods, no caffeine, bland diets. No experimenting just because you are feeling better. I know which wrong foods I ate in those 3 years that brought me back to this point.
So back to the Zantac, Carafate, lots of water, exercise, bland low fat foods.
Will keep you posted.
