Hello everyone,

   I was diagnosed with gerd about a month and a half ago. Can anyone tell me if they have a similar sympton. My neck gets very tight and soar almost daily and it feels as if I have a lump in my throat(very uncomfortable). I took prevacid at first, and it seemed not to work. I am currently on Nexium and it seems to be doing a lot better. I have a appt. with the G.I. doc on thursday, hopefully they can help me. And one more thing does anyone else always feel tired?

Hello Green,

Welcome to the forum! I don't generally have the feeling of a lump in the throat, but have in the past. I experience burning in the throat w/really bad flares, but usually it's more lower/upper abdominal discomfort w/occasional chest discomfort for me.

I'm glad you're going to see your GI soon, and hopefully, He/She will be able to get you on the right track. Other members here will also help w/insightful info.

Having Gerd is a lifestyle change;eating, sleeping, exercising, basically daily living. I suggest drinking plenty of water, daily walking if permitted, and avoiding all trigger foods. I have never noticed being tired w/GERD.

Thanks VW, I think and hope the neck pain and throat lump is just tension and nerves.

Hi Green:
The main symptom I have had is precisely a tight neck and feeling like a lump is in my throat. Prilosec hasn't helped much. I am trying to figure out which foods might be triggers. Let me know what helps you.

I believe there is one trigger food. Consuming too many carbohydrates. Please see my posts, particularly the post on playing the trigger food game.
