2 days post surgery

I am now 11 days post surgery, and nearly everything is going well. I have been walking every day and am increasing it gradually.

I am eating porridge, cottage pie, shepherds pie soup, pureed fruit and drinking lots. The volumes of food are relatively small, but boy it is so nice to eat real food!

I am still constipated, the laxative prescribed by my doc has had no effect other than to increase wind, and prunes and prune juice have not worked either, I am thinking of going and buying an over the counter remedy from the chemists, I do not generally have this problem, and I didn't take the narcotic pain killers for longer than two days, so you would think that any effect they may have had would have worn off by now?

I am still getting headaches, though I guess this could be related to the constipation?

I am free of all reflux symptoms, which is wonderful, so the operation was a definite success. I just need to get my gut sorted and build up some stamina and everything will be great.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am scheduled for the same surgery in app 2 weeks. I had my concerns but after reading through the comments I feel more positive about my decision to have this surgery. I am also Type 1 Diabetic x17 years, and have RA and LUPUS. I am ready to get this done and get on with my life. I am use to challenges..... not that I want any more. But I can do ALL things through Christ. I plan on keeping in touch. Thank you all! What do you recommend for post op smoothies and clear liquids?

I used Complan smoothies, which are a uk variety of drinks for people who cannot eat. I also initially ate baby fruit, yogurt and puréed soups.
