You are the only familiar name I see on here...you really helped me get through my ordeal in 2011...I thank you for your kindness and support...Unfortunately, I am back on because I am going through digestive issues with GERD and chest pains...I no longer suffer from the nausea and left sided pain....this is fairly new...I hope you are well and look forward to communicating with you on this forum...I have gone on other forums but this one is absolutely the best ( in my opinion)..

It's great to see you here! I'm glad your shoulder surgery went well, but sorry you're in so much pain. Remember what you always tell everyone about staying ahead of the pain! Take good care of yourself, dear friend!

Congrats on your softball team! They're so lucky to have you for a coach! I'm glad to hear you're daughter's home and that you can spend lots of time with her. Now that you're recuperating, you'll have to let her wait on you!

Hello Denise and Bill and HealingWell friends..

I saw this thread and thought I would stop for a few and say hello and let you all know that I am alive and well (relatively) still babying the heart thing.. thank goodness no afib since last September.. then it was only for a week after meds caused it.. anyway.. I want everyone to know that I have successfully gotten passed the 3 year mark for my NF surgery.. I am doing well except for some reason I still cannot eat most types of bread. I can occasionally eat toasted garlic bread if I eat sparingly.. and I have discovered I am now lactose intolerant.. but my wrap is still intact and I have no reflux at all.. Thank you Lord!!!
My granddaughter Abby has graduated from Pre-K and is looking forward to Kindergarten in the fall. And my Great-granddaughter Alaina graduated from kindergarten and is looking forward to 1st grade in the fall.
Glad to hear your daughter is back from college Bill.. I am sure you have missed her.. Hope you recover quickly from this shoulder surgery..

Denise, sorry I haven't been here but I find it very hard to spread my spare time around, just have no spare energy once I get home from work.... I know you are just loving the Grandbabies and they are loving you... will try to get here more often. Just wanted to say HI and

How wonderful to hear from you! I've been missing those rainbows! It's good to hear that your wrap is doing well. There are certain things that give me a little trouble...especially if I eat too fast and don't chew. Chicken sandwiches seem to be a culprit. I think I'm just too hungry when I eat them, and don't take my own advice--small bites and chew, chew, chew!

The grandkids are lots of fun, but exhausting! We just had them over today, and while we loved playing and hugging, we were happy when Mommy came and rescued us! We're so lucky they live five minutes away. We get lots of grandkid time, and I count my blessings. I have many friends with kids who've located hours away, and I know how hard that is.

I can't believe little Abby is already going to kindergarten in the fall! Where does the time go! And a little great-granddaughter! How wonderful! They must have fun playing together!

Bill, glad your shoulder is feeling better. I don't have to tell you that healing takes time. Baby it and give it a chance to heal. Don't be a hero! I'm glad your daughter and her hubby are home and safe. Enjoy the time they're with you! I know your softball team keeps you busy! Good luck with your team!

For those of you who haven't read my up-beat posts, I occasionally stop by and add my two cents to some of the on-going strings.

I had my HH repair and NF one year and three months ago. Prior to surgery I used this forum and its archives as my primary source for information and encouragement. I was very aprehensive about having the surgery because at my age (73) I could have lived out the remainder of my life without it. As I have mentioned in previous posts, I had survived for 40 + years after an initial diagnosis of an HH in 1967. My symptoms were sporadic and if I really watched my diet and followed all the self imposed rules I could manage to get by. I did not have the debilitating symptoms that many GERD victims suffer. And, when I began taking the prescribed PPI blockers it was even more tolerable.
However, in recent years my reflux became silent and the Hernia enlarged until a large part of my stomach was constantly above the diaphragm. I experienced major lung problems due to inhalation of reflux so, I finally had to have the surgery.
My surgery was performed in a military teaching hospital and I could not have received better care. Thanks to the Forum I was fully prepared for many of the problems and pitfalls of recovery. I made a full, fast recovery.
I am now able to eat anything regardless of the content. Although I am somewhat wary of overdoing spices, salt, overdoing exercise, etc. I am back to living my life to the fullest. Except for being careful not to over-eat, I haven't experienced any symptoms since my operation.
