Specialist has heard of Peptest..!

Sorry to make a second post; what I'm about to mention doesn't really fit in my other post, so I thought I'd post it here.

After speaking with my specialist recently I've finally got a manometry and pH impedance study on the way. I already had the Restech probe and was told that my results are still inconclusive - acidity was shown but it may be due to a dry throat rather than reflux, especially since when I had symptoms in the day no reflux was present, and when I was asleep, I'd wake up fine despite stupidly high amounts of reflux going on-!

Anyway, I spoke to my specialist about the Peptest rapid spit test. Sadly I heard something I wish I didn't hear. He has heard of the test, but considers it poor at diagnosing LPR/GERD. He said because of my symptoms are so similar to reflux, the test must not be sensitive enough. Is he right? I had 1 positive result, but 20 negative ones, even at my worst.

I believe the skepticism of Peptest is that it detects reflux when it reaches the upper digestive tract and/or lungs, but not necessarily detects reflux when it is limited to the lower digestive tract. So you could have reflux, but if it's not refluxing high enough up the esophagus, the Peptest won't detect it and would give a false negative result.

I guess, but what about when I literally taste the "acid" or post nasal drip, or when I feel something emerge in my mouth; shouldn't it be valid then too? :p
