Hi Eleanor! No, I haven't had Ppi's for a long time. I took it for only two weeks. I'm not sure if it's enough, as I have realized I had mild GERD for about
4 yrs now. I only had gone to the doctor this April because the symptoms multiplied.
I changed a lot in my diet, I avoided coffee, chocolate, citrus fruits completely (except lemon). I tried gluten and sugar free diet, but I'm from the philippines and everyone and every place here used to eat rice and bread, so it's really hard for me to avoid them.
My first symptoms were bloating, burping, stomach pain, dry throat, cough, shortness of breath, diarrhea, back pain and lump in my throat. But most of them have disappeared one by one. As of now, I have muscle pain in my upper back, chest pain, Itchy and dry cough, and on and off shortness of breath. It's as if I can't breath deeply and fully. Though it's not as worst as when I first had it.
I can say I'm better now, maybe 60% improved. But my symptoms are still circulating and shifting from time to time. I can't remember when I had no symptoms at all!
As for now, I am only taking anti histamine for my allergy and cough as prescribed by the doctor. Im not taking any antacids or ppis. I am also taking vitamin d3, coz I've been working homebased for about
3 yrs now. I thought I may be deficient in it that's why I have body and joint aches. I can say I am already feeling an improvement. Im also aiming to take Magnesium, hoping it will help with my muscle pain and anxiety. I found out that it's a muscle and mind relaxant and has lots of health benefits. Magnesium deficiency causes muscle pain, anxiety, breathlessness, chest pain, weakness, fatigue and REFLUX and many more. I really want to try it to see if I will improve.
