Hello,
Haven't posted in a while. Been crazy busy with a sister who was in a severe car accident and a brother who landed on life supported amongst other things. Has made healing a challenge but things have come a long way. That 3 month mark is truly a miracle turning point. Still struggle with some eating, bloating, nausea, etc but I think those are to be expected any how. It's been a long journey with earlier complications but still, would never turn back. The surgery has been a God send for me.
Curious as to others experiences if you had gallbladder problems. In hind sight I wonder if they were an issue prior to my HH/NF surgery. I had severe pain 2 weeks post op for 4 days and was readmitted to hospital. ER dr said gallbladder, surgeon said no. Fast forward to now......I've had ( what I believe) 4 gallbladder attacks. The last being this past Sun immediately after flying home from a 3 day course I had gone to. This was the worst. I'd go through labour and delivery in a second compared to the pain I experienced. Bloodwork was a mess. Liver enzymes and WBC were all elevated. Nurses thought for sure I'd be admitted to hospital. Dr came in and said all bloodwork normal but WBC in urine. Sent me home, even when I questioned him, saying I had a kidney infection. My husband and I were livid as was my family GP. Had ultrasound on Fri thanks to my GP. Get results Mon but from what I could see, my gallbladder is full of sludge. I can't read u/s's but it definitely looked different than every other organ. I found out I had sludge 2 weeks post HH/NF although surgeon still denied the issue.
My GP feels I need my gallbladder out immediately. Had repeat bloodwork last Tues and liver enzymes worse. WBC count down but on antibiotics. Been feeling nauseous since my attack. Also very tired. Need a power nap daily and that's not like me at all. I have been back to regular activities except working out. Still have pain in my upper centre abdomen and to my right. Can't touch gallbladder region even. Dr at hospital even touched here and I screamed then. Now it just makes me jump and gasp. Swallowing seems to be tougher again so curious about my wrap too. I had IV Zofran and Maxeran in hospital but started vomiting. Initially I was dry heaving but was strange b/c it was like the wrap area was paralyzed and I didn't get the heave. Then it was full on vomiting and a lot. Now I'm scared I ruined my wrap. I cannot differentiate whether my discomfort is damage to my wrap or still gallbladder. I have burped from day 1. I burp a ton too which I thought wasn't possible after the surgery.
I did lose 38 lbs within 2 months of my surgery so that combined with other risk factors for gallbladder made me high risk. Shocked it could cause problems so fast mind you. Any other gallbladder stories or comparisons you can share. I definitely do not want more surgery but my GP feels like too much damage is done already. Also I have developed reflux again but not like prior to surgery. This happens after I eat and comes up like a mouthful, sometimes right into my nose. Started prior to my vomiting by at least a week. Now it's daily, even drinking. Is this due to gallbladder and will pass? I worry again I'm damaging my wrap if there's so much pressure causing the reflux. Was going to call the surgeon to check my wrap once gallbladder sorted out. If I have to have surgery then I know I'll vomit again. I don't do well with anesthetic or pain meds.
Sorry this is so long. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
