Hi Refluxman.
I'm the same way. It's strange. I've definitely noticed that high-fat + high-fiber = the worst symptoms. And I usually experience bad bloating/gas when the LPR is acting up.
I have a co-worker who struggled with LPR for weeks or months. But for the past few months she hasn't had any problems at all. I was talking to her about this a week ago. That night, driving home from work, she experienced the symptoms for the first time in months. And the next day, they were gone. She said she didn't do or eat anything differently that day, so she has no clue what brought it on. So strange.
If it were SIBO-related, as Robillard suggests, you wouldn't expect to see it appear one day out of the blue, and disappear the next. But SIBO does seem plausible to me, because bloating/gas worsen my symptoms.
If I reduce my fat, that does help keep my LES closed more tightly (or so it seems). But that means I have to increase my carbs, and that seems to bring on the bloating (or, if using white Jasmine rice, as Robillard suggests, it brings on bad constipation). A real catch-22.
