Lots of people are allergic to the excipients in medicines, especially in liquid medicines. It's often not the active ingredient; it's the colors, sweeteners, flavoring, etc. In my case, I would have a problem with the saccharin, the peppermint flavor, and possibly the parabens, none of which are in the tablets, which I do tolerate. (I can't take liquid Benadryl either for the same reason, but am fine with tablets or capsules.)
If you can't do without this med, it does come in forms other than liquid. If you can't swallow the tablets ask your doctor if it's OK to crush them and take with applesauce or pudding. Get a good pill crusher from your pharmacist!
