hi there,
i hear you... most of people were there. it will too pass with time. PPIs never helped me. what did help: regular yoga and deep breathing, reiki, acupuncture, ginger tea, licorice tea, marshmellow tea/herbs, St Johns W tea and herbs, strict diet, giving up alcohol all together and being very kind to my stomach, taking it easy, listening to tibetan bowls sound before bedtime... do whatever it takes to relax, stay grounded and calm - it will pass if you try hard. I have been not well since Jan. I am much better and drug free for a long time, but it takes long time... no one could diagnose me stating that all the pain/symptoms i have are "functional"... i really do not know if it is true. I have no med help so i take it in my own hands and do what i can and it is getting better and i know one day it will completely clear and i hope the same for you good luck and do not lose your faith
This is all Grade A advice. Whether you need PPIs and surgery or not, be kind (very kind!) to your stomach and don't underestimate the link between stress / tension and reflux. Stress is your body's way of warning you something is wrong... the problem is it seriously damages your stomach.
