So sorry you are feeling awful, I can so very much relate. I've weened of PPIs for 15 days now ( on Zantac ) and still felling the crunch probably because I've developed gastritis and god knows what else. You mentioned pain reliever, just make sure to ask your doctor if this won't compound you stomach problem as they are known to irritate the stomach. I say this from a personal experience. I hope you start feeling good soon and keep updating. gentle hugs

I am sorry u had to go back on the Nexium but I understand . After 3 weeks off it the nausea is starting to lesson a bit. Not much, but I was actually not suicidal this morning when I woke up feeling sick. My acid on my mouth is horrendous though. I need to be able to get bAck to work in 3 weeks . I am taking aloe gels, DGL enzymes, ginger root pills, some probiotics and some homeopathic beads under my tongue. I am hoping that they are starting to work . Take care, I'll say a little prayer for you at night too. I think people have no idea how this condition can take over your life. Hang in there! MGM

Oh , I am so sorry for you, for us actually. The nausea is the worst cause it permeates your whole being. I too can barely eat. I am taking DGL, aloe Vera , ginger tablets, and some homeopathic thing, all given to me by my naturopathic Dr. Also, Zantac 300 Mgs a day which doesn't seem to help the reflux much. I'll keep posting as I go along this journey. Take care. MGM

I truly will pray and hope we all get better soon, this illness connected with the stomach is horrid beyond words.

I had to quit everything cold turkey, don't even take antacids and my gastritis blew up again when i came off nexium, but 8 months of sever restricted diet of ONLY boiled chicken and rice and a very low far=t one together with ppi doing damage to my gallbladder is left me in a special kind of hell. Gallbladder pain is horrible and i was hoping it would go away when i came off the meds but it has not and to have both gallbladder pain and gastritis is seriously zapping my 2nergy, i am forced to eat vegetables and increasing the fat in my diet but not much has happened, only have hope now because don't want to remove my gallbladder because doctors don't put warning sign on these ppi and have no clue how to give diet advice.

Linda Sue, my heart goes out to you. It's still amazing to me that my Doctor says I can't be feeling the nausea I do. I am going to tell her nicely that she is being fed lies by the drug companies. She should go on Nexium and see what it does to her. I really don't mean to be mean but it's incredible that I get more validation from you and I don't really know you! Anyway, I'm thinking of you and hoping you feel relief soon.

You actually give me hope that I am not crazy . I am off Nexium for 3 weeks now and am still fighting nausea and having to force myself to eat. It 's really terrible especially when my gastro dr. Says I can't be feeling sick from the Nexium. I think I need to tell her that I am 60 years old and have never felt sick like this. I know what I feel. I have horrible dry mouth at night and then floods of acid in the evening and nausea all day.

Linda Sue, do you have dry mouth at night? I have terrible dry mouth after hours of acid in my mouth. I have constant nausea and trouble eating. I wish I knew that this would stop someday and I could return to normal which I was for 58 years.

I wonder how much nausea is caused by Nexium and how much by lack of acid or too much acid? There is definitely some bad imbalance going on. MGM

I am in my 4th week of being off of Nexium. I feel terribly nauseated in the morning. Takes all my will to get out of bed and take supplements from my naturopath Dr. In the afternoon the nausea fades but is replaced by terrible acid in my mouth. Anyone have any idea how long until one 's system gets back to normal? Tips welcome! MGM

I wanted to comment on the sleeping position. I found when I have bad pain from gastritis and cannot sleep or lay down I was able to get semi comfortable sitting in bed with my legs crossed, leaning forward over a bedrest that was facing me. I actually fell asleep a few times like that.

I want to write an enormous thank you to this forum and all the people who wrote to me all summer. I was never so sick in my life. My gastro enterologist was not helpful in the least, my GP had no ideas of how to help me. I turned to this forum to find some connections with people and I found them! It is now 5 weeks since I quit Nexium and I finally feel really fine. My nausea is gone.. I found a naturopath Dr. who is helping me heal naturally and working with me every step of the way. What I can say to others is :Don't give up trying to find solutions , and it is not easy when you are feeling really sick. Keep reaching out . I feel that this forum saved my sanity and helped me begin my journey back to health. Any questions about my journey, feel free to ask. Keep looking for answers! Most Sincerely, MGM wink

Look up the long term effects of PPIs and that may help you to decide if you need to try and quit taking them.

Hopeoutthere?, sorry I've not been back on this topic for awhile. I've been following a few fellow sufferers who've had the Nissen Fundoplication surgery as I feel that this is my last resort.

So GLAD you were successful getting off the Nexium. So, you're off Nexium and are you taking anything? Was your diagnosis? Do you have a hiatal hernia? Do you know why you were prescribed Nexium in the first place?

Looking forward to your input and SO GLAD you're feeling good!

Mammonoesbest, thank you for your concern. There really is NO pain reliever that will work for me. I am searching out a new Gastroenterologist and really need to find the right doctor to FIX the root problem.
