Hi:
Been having bad acid issues for last 2 months. Have previously had issues on and off for a couple of years. Anyways, this time, my throat seems to be always sore or at least irritated. I am worried about that whole Barretts Esp. thing. I am scared about this whole thing...will I get cancer? Right now, made a appointment with my Gastro doc, but, that is not until Oct. 14. At that time, I think I will request an endoscopy. I had an endoscopy about 2-3 years ago. I was scared about that, but, thankfully, made it through.
I do not want to get hooked on acid blockers, since that does not really solve the problem. I have read that things can be done, naturally to help treat Acid Reflux. Even read that sometimes it is not about too much acid, but, too little. Just overwhelming, not knowing what to try and what not to try.
I try to sleep on the couch in an upright position, which I think is a good thing. I think I snore too, which, I am sure does not help my throat.
By the way, I think I know what caused this whole thing I think: Stress, eating meals too quickly, skipping meals, not eating regularly. I am not overweight by the way, and do not smoke nor drink. I do have an autoimmune disease--psoriatic arthritis. I was tested for strep, but, came back negative. I did a finger blood prick for H Pylori-negative.
So, what is your recommendation? Should I see an ENT before the gastro doc? Should I take over the counter meds while waiting for the gastro doctor?
I really appreciate your comments.
Thanks...
