Gastrtitis flare ups & H Pylori

Haha yeah steak and wine sounds great, can't wait till I can do that again! I crave all the foods I can't eat now too, you know the old saying.... We want what we can't have lol! I actually like almond milk, I was even drinking it before I got this crap cause I like the taste better than regular milk. Have a good night, I know it's late there. Cheers

interesting post, thank you. I have been diagnosed with Gastritis, with all the symptoms of Gerd as well. I was on Prilosec for 4 weeks before the Endsocopy, not sure it worked except made me feel numb and not hungry. After diagnosis, Dr. upped the dose 2x day and it made me much worse, I was a zombie. I have trouble eating still, need to gain weight. Dr. took me off the Prilosec and all PPI's and gave me probiotic and Gas x (Phazyme) and I still use Gavison. I have good days and bad days. Today I tried to eat more but ended up with bad heartburn. Pain is better in the stomach, but I wonder how long it takes to heal gastritis, or will we always have the reflux. And do those with Gastritis always get reflux? It took since Jan 14 until now for this thing to be full blown....and I just want to be able to eat and gain some weight back. thinking of finding a naturapath, I live in the US in Ca. I have not tried zantac, but may have too, a little nervous about the side effects. My bro in law, has reflux and takes prilosec n 1x and it works for him. For the rest of us that cannot tolerate that PPI, it's a long road to revcover. My doc says my gastritis is from having 2 bad viruses this year, the first time in Jan. I stopped the wine( only a couple times a week 1 glass anyway, not a big drinker) and cleaned up my eating. Still lost 10 lbs...I have lost another 10 since July. Does Gastritis last forever??? or does it heal? There needs to be hope ;)

Hello mo - well, I also live in Cal, Pasadena area. Small world ah. Yes we definitely know your frustration, I was diagnosed with gastritis in April 2014 and started in early march with a slight burn in my stomach then started getting a sharp knawing pain like I was kicked in the stomach on top of the burning, that's when I made dr appt. last year before this I was getting very bad heartburn sometimes where it'd make me cough and gag even but I didn't do much about it and prob has some to do with why I have gastritis now. I know what you mean with weight loss, I've lost 30 lbs since April and still losing which is the only good thing that's came from this cause I was overweight anyway. I haven't got heartburn in several months now but still burp constantly which is annoying and I still get the burning in stomach too off and on.

I'd say that you definitely have to get the heartburn under control because as long as you're getting that, your stomach can't begin to heal, that's one thing I've learned for sure! Diet is also key, it took me several months of figuring out what I could and couldn't eat. Doctors barely tell you anything! What is your diet like? I take a lot of natural items to help heal mine but I'm gonna try nexium too, it's OTC here in stores. Hope you feel better.

Well crap! That sucks, on steak and wine day too that's even worse! Hopefully it's better by dinner ah. I'm doing somewhat ok today, not bad but not great either, still a little burn and ache in stomach. I think I'll try the nexium cause I'm not on any ppi now since omeprasole ran out a month ago, I just take Zantac, and carafate. May need something more...... Do you have the prob I have with burping all dam day? It's not heartburn but just the need to burp all the time! It's irritating, it's like I take a step up then step down over and over again every week! I'm getting impatient, so sick and tired of this I mean it!

I'd like to know if anyone with gastritis when drinking cold or hot fluids on an empty stomach can feel the fluid go down hitting the stomach? I never noticed that before I got this, just curious if this is normal when having gastritis. With cold water it's a tingly feeling right when it hits stomach.
