Hi I had a Divinci (robotic) fundoplication 5 days ago. I have had minimum pain and surgical site soreness. I am on a full liquid diet for two weeks then progress to soft foods. I am currently losing a pound per day. I would love to hear from anyone who has had their fundoplication performed with Divinci robotics about their recovery. I expected laparoscopic surgery but not by this method but was informed upon arrival for surgery about the method. I stressed about the surgery, recovery etc for weeks before so probably better I did not know. Relief of pre surgery symptoms were felt immediately. I'm quite pleased, just need to tackle new challenges of diet. In addition I would love to know if feeling of being hungry returns? Right now I eat every two hours 1/4 to 1/2 cup 4-5 times per day. Also at what point does weight loss slow? I have approximately 20 lbs that could be shed but if this continues beyond that I will need to adjust diet to slow it. Thank you for any comments and let me say I am grateful to have found this site. Got to go....time to eat

I also had the DaVinci NF, mine was done in April 2014. I had a fairly non-eventful road to recovery. I never had any difficulty swallowing, and was even able to take pills. As far as your modified diet, you will continue to lose weight - I did for the first month. Once you move on to semi-solid foods, your weight loss should level out. It does take a little bit of time before you really get your appetite back, but it does come back.

Thank you SharonZ for getting back to me. I'm looking forward to an uneventful recovery. Hardest part will be not to push because I really feel pretty good.

Don't push yourself too much. I thought that I was feeling so much better, but didn't realize how exhausted I was after the surgery. When I went back to work, I only stayed for 1/2 days. I was very fortunate that my employer offered me unlimited paid time off to recover.

I'm at 4-weeks post-Nissen and still pretty limited with regard to quantity of food. Even though I've (partially) moved from liquids to some pureed/smashed foods, I still can't eat much and am not sure if I've stopped losing weight. It does slow down, in the last week I spend 2-3 days at the same number before dropping a half pound. Early on, I agree, it was a pound every day. I've lost 16# so far and was not overweight to start with.
