Hi All,
I am peppering this site with questions as I am only 2 weeks post a revision fundoplication, the initial operation being 4 years ago, so I don't remember how I felt last time. I am wondering whether anyone remembers, in their early recovery phase, a gurgle as food/drink passes through the wrap? At the end of my peristaltic movement, there is often a gurgle that is accompanied by a slightly hot/acidic feeling. This is sensation I associate with a lax wrap (I had this sensation before the revision) but I am curious as to whether it is commonplace during recovery or even as a permanent feature of a man-made wrap?
Also, with regard to burping/belching, I get the sensation to burp, which is followed by a hot (acid like) sensation in the esophagus. It feels like I could force a small burp out, but I don't want to try. Does this ring any bells? Maybe my insides are just so irritated that any activity is interpreted by my esophagus as reflux.
This site is an absolute life saver; I have used it extensively around my last op and now again for the revision. Thanks to everyone who contributes.
Simon
