LES wide open?

I feel as though my LES is now wide open. When I sit at any angle it feels as though the les is wide open and that gastric contents just sit in my oesophagus.
Even walking I get reflux up and down my chest. I get a gurgle and up comes the reflux even when sitting completely still.
I also get constant regurgitation - like a sour taste in my mouth after eating or drinking anything.

Did anyone else who had a wide open les have these symptoms.

If you have poor motility the body compensates by keeping the LES at least partially open. This in turn causes GERD

I had an open LES from a large paraesophageal hiatal hernia.

See a gastroenterologist for some simple tests to get a real diagnosis.

Alcie,

I have seen 4 gastroenterologists in over 2 years. I was diagnosed with reflux small hernia and weak les and poor motility.

Now it feels as though the les is wide open and I get free reflux in my oesophagus all the time.

Can you please advise of your reflux symptoms when your les was wide open

I have been diagnosed with a very weak LES.
When I had an endoscopy the consultant showed me pictures of it and it showed it was wide open, I have excessive burping and also regurgitation with everything I eat and drink.
I sleep with about 3 pillows otherwise I will wake up in the morning and feel very sick and burp.
The PPI's for me personally do not really have any effect and I am waiting on a fundo.

What have they said is the next step for you?

Hi Phil,
Thank you for your reply.
I am also waiting on a partial as I have severe motility problems, and it's going to a bit of a gamble.
At this stage with the constant reflux and regurgitation, I cannot wait for it.
I'd give anything to be able to eat normally and lie flat!

What was your les measurement if you don't mind me asking?
