Welcome to the forum. Please read the Forum's thread: "For successful fundoplication members" by Pat Fill. My own story is in there. But just to demonstrate how positive my own experience has been please read the following little note that I worte on my Niece's Facebook page yesterday:
My Niece was writing about her preparations for the Thanksgiving feast yesterday and I wrote the following reply: "I wasn't even cooking today so I can't relate to the preparation but yesterday I made beefy spaghetti sauce with peppers, mushrooms and chunks of hot Italian sausages. Then I baked some hot Italian sausage meatballs made from bulk sausage to go in the sauce. So, guess what my thanksgiving breakfast was??? A sliced meatball sandwich on a soft, Sarah Lee hoagie roll and topped with some of the peppers and sauce. Afterwards, we went to Jackie and Johnny's house for a great thanksgiving banquet.........yum yum"
If you notice, just about everything that I included in that note were foods that I couldn't even think about eating less than a year and a half ago....look at the ingredients that I listed and other ingredients that are not mentioned--loads of onions and garlic, spices, salt, etc. And, what I didn't mention, I washed it down with a glass of Lemonade. That "breakfast" would have been impossible before my HH repair and Nissen Fundoplication.
I wish you well and hope that if you decide to have your Nissen that your results are as positive as mine
