Hi. This is my first time to post. I'm Irish and had fundoplcation in July for severe reflux and haitus hernia. As the months have gone by my symptoms have returned- I'm taking nexazole , Zantac and gaviscon . I don't know what to do- the surgeon seems disinterested . He's not a G I surgeon - he specialises in micro surgery

Hiya Reuben, sorry to hear your having problems so soon after your op.
Whats your surgeon saying about your symtoms and have you had any testing carried out?
Where did you get your surgery done? Im from Northern Ireland. Barry

Hi Reuben, I am new to this forum as well. However, I would contact my regular doctor and see if I could get them to talk to the surgeon. Or else, I would go to a GI doc and get a second opinion.

Thank you- I will see my gp tomorrow hopefully and take it from there- I'm not normally stuck but I'm so sick I'm afraid

hi reuben
first you need an impedance metric to assure that u have reflux...i mean ph metric...before u need to stop medecines for at least 7 days...if the result shows low ph it means u have acid reflux...second togd to assure that the valve still in its place....togd means barium swallow.soliver

Hi Reuben,

Just wondered how you've got on? I had my Nissens in June 2013, and my symptoms returned in Jan 2014. After a year of appointment after appointment (consultant, barium swallow, gastroscopy, 24 ph and Manometry) I had my surgery redone 3 weeks ago. My wrap had stretched, hence my revision of symptoms, and I had developed a hiatus hernia.

Have you had any joy from your surgeon, or is he still disinterested?

Hi Kirsten,

How are you getting on after your revision? Is your reflux gone? I have had a second fundoplication and woke up worse off than after the first one. I don't know what to do. I'm 4 months into the healing....I just don't have the strength to go through with all the tests once again. Did you have a good surgeon? Where are you located?
