Anybody had a "Dor" fundoplication.

Hi as some of you may know (as I've waffled on lots of other posts on this forum), I've had a fundoplication performed in May 2014 which hasn't been effective in controlling my symptoms. I've been to have an impedance test performwd today (currently sat with the vile probe in) and was advised by the physiologist that the surgeon performed a "Dor" fundoplication. First I've heard of it! I was under the impression that I have had a full wrap performed. I'm quite shocked as I didn't appear to have any motility issue on the first manometry prior to surgery. Surgeon hasn't been the greatest with communication hence why I have seeked a second opinion. I've never heard of this type of fundo if I'm honest and just wondering if anyone else has had this surgery. Apparently it doesn't tighten the les but changes the structure to enable the acid to go up the sides of the repair instead of the les being more "like and elastic" I'm very confused!

I believe the Dor Wrap is a 180 degree wrap.

Hiya Trootters, I suppose you could call what I have a "DOR" fundoplication, its a partial wrap usually 180 degrees but mine was done abit more to 200-220 I was told.
The stomach is wrapped around the lower sphincter and stitched to the esophagus about half way round.
I had that because I had a motility problem and its working great with no reflux.
What problems are you having,is it reflux ?

hi,awh so sorry to hear that,i know its a hell of a journey to go through and end up still having problems.
Your doing the right thing anyway by getting a second opinion. Hopefully your new surgeon will sort this out for you.
I have to say that my surgeon said one in ten would still have reflux after a partial wrap for reasons he couldn't explain though.
