Hi everyone,

I plan on having the Stretta done at Maryland by Dr.Noar.

Does anyone have any recent infos on expense?

I need to fly in from Taiwan for this. Been diagnosed with
GERD a year ago, grade A and no hernia. Can not tolerate
PPI(tried them all with horrible results). I am taking Nizatidine the last H2 blocker developed luckily available in Taiwan called Tazac
which has absolutely zero side effects.Tried Zantac ones
and gave me heart racing. Can only recommend Tazac for those
of you that cant take PPI.

Quality of life has inspite of low grade significantly dimimished.
I get pain when speaking after short time and cramping in my
esophagus from the acid plus gulp in throat feeling all the time.

No idea where this GERD came from but I recall having done
lots of sit ups and bench pressing before for about 6 months
plus tons of coffee.

Anyway dont want to be in this misery for the rest of my life and ruin
my gut flora surpressing my stomach acid especially that the Stretta has such a high rate of success.

Any info would be appreciated.

I'd like to hear peoples experiences with this too. I looked into it and it sounds like such a simple procedure, I can't quite figure out how just an hour of radio waves can cure GERD, but I suppose its a very low risk option.

One person here gave an account, they said it was rough at first but did see improvement (after a few months and then gradually got even better over the next 1-2 years).

I'm in the UK and they've only done it about once I think, and given my tests are usually 'normal' I dont think Im likely to get the NHS to agree to it. But if it's cheap I may just fly to the US and get it. The other thread said it cost $3500, other reports say its $2-3k, so much cheaper than the alternatives.

Well I saw that post once and it said she paid around 3500 in 2011 for it. I do know Stretta takes like 6 months to kick in till the tissue builds scars that thicken the LES thats why I want this asap because I simply dont believe the LES resumes function by itself at least all odds are against it. But I fear due to the popularity of Stretta the prices might be much higher and I have to pay out of my own pocket. But I am sick of eating small meals and getting a swollen throat three times a day.

There is a stretta page on Facebook, however I have not yet heard of any positive stories on this, sorry

However the procedure seems very well received. Its a big decision to make but I don't want to
have this misery to live with anymore.

Stefan,

If you really want to get rid of your GERD I would recommend the endostim, linx or the nissen for proven relief.

Hiya Stefan,i agree with Pink here on the Stretta,i have never heard or read anything positive on the procedure.
Nissen Fundoplication is the most proven method for acid reflux.

Thanks guys but how come the FDA gave its highest recommendedations for it just in 2014? All the studies I see say that 85% of patients are highly satisfied after 6 months and LES pressure has increased as well as esophagus exposure of acid has normalized. Isnt that proven enough? Negative stories are also very rare to find on it.

At the end of the day its up to you, its a lot of money and if youve found positive stories for it then you may deem it worth it.

Unlike other options this is much less invasive, and if it doesnt work you still have the other procedures open to you to try, but depends on whether you only have the money to give more then one option a go.
