Where are all the Stretta success stories?

Recently I was exposed to some information about the Stretta procedure, and the more I read, the optimistic I got that a cure to LPR does exist. A collection of really great clinical data:

But here's what I don't understand...why aren't people with LPR posting successful stories from the Stretta. All this data, and no posts to validate it. Either Stretta patients with LPR are being cured and not looking back, or the Stretta isn't as good as it looks.

It goes from Stretta is so effective it reverses Barretts Esophagus, but its a ghost town for success stories on the internet

Please take a look at the other Stretta topic. There is a company representative that follows it and answers questions. (If you have already seen it then I apologize). I tend to agree that satisfied patients do not hang around forums to help others-- and I sure wish they did.

Are you an actual doctor gastro-doc? I ask because most people wouldn't be able to knowledge drop like you did in the post? Are you in any way connected to doing strettas where you have patients that can vouch. It just seems like all the stats are aligning, and with you being a member for so many years but only posting a few times it makes me wonder why post now?

If you are a gastro doc that can vouch for the stretto for LPR patients though...you are definitely my knight in shining armor

He had LPR and Linx and did tremendous amount or research on the topic . He is really helpful. I'll send you link if desired. It seems that a combination of things helped him.

I'm familiar with JPT. I had a toupet nissen in August and so the linx is off the table. I can't speak for the topic creator, but I'm considering going to a dr that does strettas to see if he saw any benefit (with not even being one year out of the nissen I might have to wait).

I am wondering if the stretta procedure works for people with delayed gastric emptying. There are many people who have GERD problems caused by delayed gastric emptying. Some of them had to get their nissen surgery reversed because it slowed down their digestion even more. I am fortunate I no longer have Gastroparesis, but I cannot take a PPI since this is what caused my delayed gastric emptying problem to begin with.

In the last two weeks I've gone from "my throat is always burning and my voice is always hoarse...deal with it", to "fairly optimistic". I refuse to get too hopeful and I'm thinking about setting a self imposed restriction of not doing any medical tests until 2016 to make sure I don't rush in to it. I waited 3 years to do the nissen after the Dr suggested it.

True story, when I went in for the Nissen my Dr mentioned it in passing that he had a few patients asking about it. I had heard only negativity at that point, so I didn't really think much of it. Now it seems like research articles are coming out of the woodwork. Maybe its because Obama has relief their is such a spotlight on it.

I noticed that a very practiced stretta doctor works there, Dr. Noar. I would love more information on this. I hope I didn't scare you away. If you are associated with gastro-doc website, I am a 28 year old male with LPR, floppy LES, low swallowing ability (although I never noticed, revealed on the test), normal acid levels.

I am guilty as charged...I am the doc in gastro-doc, and am happy to answer any questions that you have. I also highly recommend the facebook Stretta blog site suggested and started by Candybia earlier. It is a very supportive and informative group of amazing people.
I will try and answer some of the questions recently posted.
1) Stretta is excellent and 98% effective in Nissen failures
2) 45% of patients with reflux have associated gastroparesis that will correct after fixing the reflux with either Nissen or Stretta. Occasionally in the setting of what is called functional pyloric outlet obstruction (pylorus stomach muscle contracts while stomach is trying to empty) it is the gastroparesis that causes the reflux and fixing the pylorus sphincter fixes the gastroparesis and the reflux.
3) Stretta works very well in LPR, which is the most serious and difficult to treat form of reflux. This is because it is caused by aerosolized pepsin that adheres to laryngeal tissues and is then later activated by acid foods or beverages. 72% of the patients in the 4 year and 10 year Stretta trials had LPR and all responded very well.
4) Obama did not have a Stretta, although I would have liked him to have it. And yes I was the doc in the TV news clip.

I saw the neighbor that had Stretta done on 5-30-13, almost two years ago. She's still happy with it and has daily coffee and small glass of wine. Again she says that using DGL on occasion helps and she still carries it in her pocket. I don't know anymore but I seem to recall her and husband saying that it's suppose to take time for that area to strengthen up. I saw her at a get together and saw her eating cheese and raw veggies, dip. Did not see her consume peppers or pickles or spicy stuff at all. I think someone else said she does not consume any meat. Sorry, but that's all I know. Also, I do recall her saying that if it didn't last long, she would have it done again.

You mentioned no improvement then you say ups and downs. Sounds like you have some improvement with the 'ups.' Have you had a follow up with the doctor.

Yes, I'll ask her more but I only see her occasionally and the questions are a little personal.

I do know she went back to work the next day so I assume she was feeling well. I've not heard that she's been ill or in hospital but I don't see her frequently. I'll be glad to ask her more questions. She's not interested in doing things on the Internet.

I do think that she is a very careful eater since she had it done. She gave up coffee and wine before due to issues-- now has both-- but only I cup coffee in morning and one small glass wine in evening. Have had no occasion to see her eating at a table, only saw her at a social occasion so I don't know much. I'll try when I see her.
