Chest pain after endoscopy!

Yes its normal when they take biopsies, they basically use a crocodile clip to tear off a bit of the esophagus. From what I remember the pain didnt last that long, a couple of weeks later it was gone, though I had loads of problems with heartburn as well so it was hard for me to tell the difference.

Hey applejacks! I found your post while on a google search. Because it's been posted within the last year, thought I'd give it a bump and see if any of you guys can help me.

I had an endoscopy earlier today and since this afternoon my acid reflux has been terrible and I've had a dull aching pain in my chest. I've never had heartburn, but my guess is this is kind of what it feels like. Was this anything like your chest pain? They took a biopsy to check for eosinophilic esophagitis as well, so I guess that could be an issue, too. I get pretty bad health anxiety so of course that may be making matters wose!

No indication of a hernia. Took a biopsy for EE, as well a fungal sample for what is likely candida esophagitis (proabably caused by the steroids in my maintenance inhaler).

Fortunately, I haven't experienced any heartburn today, just a really strange sensation in my chest, like a lump in my chest. You're probably right- just my esophagus healing itself. I've had similar sensations in other area of my esophagus when I've had food or medication get stuck and irritate it. My GI doctor's office called me today to ask how I was doing, so I mentioned it to them and they said that's to be considered normal and the feeling should be gone by tomorrow. Resting a little easier now! The sensation this evening seems to be a bit better than in the beginning of the day.. or the headache from the diflucan I was prescribed is just causing me to focus elsewhere, haha.
