Good morning!
I had a Nissen Fundoplication done exactly 4 weeks ago today. I think so far I have been doing real well with my recovery. I had worsening asthma due to reflux before the surgery but since the surgery I have not used my asthma rescue medication at all.-I 'm just now transitioning to soft food and it seems to be going down okay-no problems. But last night I woke up coughing once and I had some white stuff in my mouth similar to what I had before surgery. My breathing seems to be effected too. Not real bad but enough to make a difference.
So could it be that my reflux already came back? Or could it happen that just a small amount of food comes back up soemtimes?

Oh! Ouch! The asthma is surely affected by aspirating anything liquid including from your tum. Don't have any post-surgical reflux experience, but I feel for you, Elke! I'm sure lots of folk on this forum can answer your question, tho.'

thank you for responding. I actually had that happen shortly after the surgery once and called the office. At the time the nurse thought it might just be happening because the esophagus is still too tight and the food has no way to go back but up. But I don't know if it should happen a month afterwards. I really hope someone else can weigh in too.

I'm just bumping this back up in the hope that someone who has the Nissen procedure done may have an answer to my question. Did you at times had food come back up and in the back of your throat after the surgery? Or does this mean the reflux returned??

I have bad volume reflux . surgery in a month. can I ask do you taste acid with food or not

No I never did taste acid when food or acid came up. But my mouth burned a lot and the my throat felt tight. I don't have those symptoms now so that's the reason I'm wondering if what I'm experiencing is reflux or not.
