I had a full wrap and have had extensive investigations before and after the op. I had a manometry assessment prior to my op.
I had the Nissen done privately. I first went because of IBS and diverticulitis and while they were investigating that they claimed I had severe reflux and I had to have the op. I trusted what the specialist said but since then other specialists have questioned whether I had reflux at all given I had not experienced any problems with the upper part of my digestive system. The private clinic has closed down so I couldn't go back to that specialist and challenge them. Both places have tried to widen the esophagus via an endoscopy a couple of times without success.
I eventually went to NHS (UK) specialists. The NHS consultants are brilliant. They have done extensive investigations. They found that I have a slow transit of food down the esophagus. They haven't said they're doing a partial reversal, I assume it will be a full one. I have a pre-op appointment with them so I'l ask them for more info then.
It has been difficult to deal with. If I'm out with friends I have to choose what I think I can eat rather than what I would like to eat. There's nothing more embarrassing than having to bring up(regurgitate) your food in public in restaurant toilets! :-(
I just hope the reversal works or I don't know what I'll do!!
