Hi David,
Sorry to hear you're having nausea. I have always had a reactive stomach, so I can identify with stomach issues, for sure. From what I understand, generally nausea after eating is an indication of inflammation of the stomach lining/gastritis.
If this is something that is new to you, and is bothersome, it makes perfect sense to make an appointment and see your doctor. Which doc is your call. It depends on how knowledgeable your PCP is regarding stomach issues. Mine is great on the topic, so that's where I'd go. GI docs are a little harder to get into. Since you've had a Nissen, if you can get into your GI, go for it. It sounds as if you'll want to be seen sooner rather than later, though.
Healing gastritis takes time and patience, if that's what you're dealing with. Be sure to only eat foods that can be chewed to a liquid, creamy consistency. Part of the digestion process is when the stomach actually mashes foods. If you've filled it with rough, irritating things, it will be further irritated. Be sure to stay away from acidic foods and alcohol as well.
I doubt your nausea is Nissen related at this point. It is true that when your wrap gets irritated, it can irritate the rest of the stomach, but it doesn't sound as if that's what has happened.
Good luck getting your stomach calmed down. Let us know how you do!
Best wishes,
Denise
