Potato,
There is a reason why there is a 'weight restriction' after this surgery. The LAST thing you should be doing is lifting anything weighing more than 10 pounds. You damaged your wrap in the early healing stages! What a shame. Didn't your post-op care instructions include a warning about, pushing, pulling or lifting anything heavier than 10 lbs for at least 6 weeks??
I believe you need to gradually work back into weight training AFTER 6 MONTHS! Internal healing takes that long and longer. If you will take care of yourself and baby your body for a few months, you will heal better and faster. It will be so worth the effort and your wrap could last a lifetime if you will just take care of it.
Lifting weights directly irritates all of your chest muscles and can even cause a hiatal hernia with the straining, as well as undo your wrap.
You really can't do anything to strengthen abs for many months so just don't go there. I am 3 weeks post-op and my surgeon said NO crunches, sit-ups, etc. but I could start using hand weights to strengthen my upper body; I'm starting with 4 lbs.
You won't do well with the ladies, no matter how 'buff' you look if you are too sick to go on a date because of nausea and acid reflux!
Just AVOID WEIGHT LIFTING FOR 6 months!
(Sorry to be bossy but it upsets me that you went through the surgery and wrecked your wrap by continuing weight lifting!)
