The best fundoplication is the one the doctor believes is right for you. You go to the doctor for his expertise, so you should take his advice.
People on a forum aren't doctors. We're just people with different experiences. We don't know your condition, how long your esophagus is, what medicines you don't tolerate ..... We only know what has worked, or not worked, for us.
I had a Toupet variety of Nissen because my swallow was extremely weak, and I'd probably not be able to swallow past a full Nissen. My esophagus wasn't really very long, so there was a possibility they would have to make a bit more of it out of part of my stomach, I was lucky and they were able to "let down" just enough.
I was also lucky that I was able to have my surgery done laparoscopically. I have no scars that show after 5 years, because my surgeon's group used under the skin stitching technique instead of staples.
There is so much to consider. That's why the choice of doctors is so important - more important than the particular procedure you might think you want.
Don't go with the latest fad or whatever some lay person tells you to get. Ask the doctor what you NEED.
