gerd with left body tingling and weakness...help!

Hello everyone.
I'm new to this board and I'm wondering if these symptoms seem normal. In late April I was at work and all of a sudden I Felt numbness on my left side of my body with my chest feeling pressure. Also a strange weakening the more I moved the weaker I became. So naturally this freaked me out so I went to the hospital that happens to be across the street. Told them my symptoms and they hooked me to an ekg. They did the heart test ( can't remember name..srry)and it came back clear. They waited two hours and did it again and it was still clear. They said its acid reflux and gave me some pepcid in my iv. Shortly I felt better and the pressure was going awayso I believed them. Went home then about 3 hours later it hit me again even harder. So now I can hardly walk with tingling and weakness so we went to a closer hospital at the time. They did the heart test both times and still came back ok. They also did an ultrasound of my heart and the cardiologist said it was perfect. They did keep me overnight to monitor me. They did find my potassium was low and gave me a pill for it and iv because I was dehydrated.
After all that they called it G.e.r.d and told me to take prilosec. Two hospitals,a cardiologist and my heart is cleared and healthy.
Now its July 30th and its back. Arms and legs tingling and fatigue when I move for a bit....Can gerd really make us feel this way because it is very scary. Anyways I typed this on my phone so sorry for the errors and stay healthy.

Yes, GERD can cause these symptoms (but so can other things too). Though I'm wondering how they arrived that it was GERD? And how old are you?

Do you notice when these symptoms occur? And do they occur after you eat?

Lastly, did the doctor in the hospital give you any advice regarding what you eat and drink?

Billy, have you been checked for a hernia? I was a stock clerk, lifting and moving wine and liquor cases 5 days a week. I think that's where my hernia started; heavy lifting. I was weighing around 135-145 then. (Took pride in my ability to handle up to 75 lb. items.....)

Gerd and hiatal hernias go together like soup and snaditches.... (mis-spelling deliberate)

I surely can relate to your being nervous about how you are feeling! Make an appt. with a Gastroenterologist, and have an endoscopy and a barium swallow test.

There is such a thing as 'silent reflux', maybe that's why you're not feeling 'heart-burn'.

Let us know what you find out - we are all concerned for you, and curious too about a firm diagnosis.

I am surprised they did not run the more tests like they did with me! I am new to this board also but if you read my posts, it might help you. I was so weak and sweat was pouring down my face when it hit me! The pain was off the charts and I thought, calmly, that I was dying. I could not talk and the ER ran virtually every test they have; over the 2 times I went in over a ten day period.
I am referred for an endoscope. It could be GERD, hernia, ulcer, etc. The definitive test is scoping.
While I am not thrilled to have it, I am thrilled to figure this out. I hate it. I try not to think about it much and eat like a bird and mush my food up so much before swallowing that I feel like I am a bird about to feed her baby LOL.
But seriously, I think you found the right place for advice. Definitely get to your PCP.
