Hi Dijebr,Glad you've joined the
Wrapped Club!
Thank you for sharing your story! As you know, there are many negative posts out there, and it's important for people who are contemplating the surgery to see the positive outcomes and attitudes.
I've come to believe that many of those scary posts are written by people who are in the difficult stages of recovery and weren't prepared properly for what to expect. Many surgeons give the impression that the recovery is a walk in the park, which it isn't. That said, it's very manageable.
Like you, I had severe breathing issues pre-op, and the surgery gave me my health back. I have asthma, and reflux made it uncontrollable. Also, like you, I found this forum prior to my surgery, and it gave me the courage to move forward.
The flatulence issue will ebb and flow. Your wrap will relax some, and perhaps let your burp to some degree. Whatever can't come "north" to be burped out, will go "south". I still have times when I'll eat something that gets me a little bloated and for some reason I can't burp at all. Those are the times I expect lots of flatulence. Generally, though, the longer I went post-op, the less of a problem it was. Have you tried an enzyme like BEANO that helps digest those vegetables that are most likely to cause gas? I chewed three tablets before eating gassy veggies or beans, and it really made a big difference.
Glad you've joined the forum and are sharing your experiences! It means a lot to so many others looking for answers!
Happy healing,
Denise
