I just had the linx implanted on 7/31/15 by a Dr. Marohn @ John Hopkins in Baltimore MD. Just wanted to see if any fellow linxers had any of the post linx symptoms that I am experiencing. As far as I can tell I have not had any reflux that I can feel. Prior to the linx I had severe esophaghitus, gastritus, pain @ LES junction, chest pain, frequent belching, post nasal drip and LPR. My main complaint since having the linx implanted is that I can feel a burp/pressure coming on (least I think its a burp, pressure trying to break through the linx I think) which doesnt pass the linx but causes some pain/discomfort in the area of the linx/les. I dont know if I should try and force a burp to let it pass or if this is normal ? I am also very gasey.

I do remember having that feeling where I wanted to burp but couldn't at least a few times, so it must be pretty normal. I'm really happy that you've had a good result so far, I hope that it serves you as a cure for reflux.

How was your voice when you woke up from surgery? (mine was completely singed by acid from being flat during surgery), and how were your first attempts at swallowing? (mine were very painful) I ended up with constipation after the surgery not gas and I think that is simply due to the drugs they give you even though I opted out of taking any of the opioids some of the other drugs must still carry that side effect.

Thank you for your reply Harrison. My voice was really hoarse when I woke up. I thought it was from the endoscope they did on me after they implanted the linx. The surgeon told me they scoped me to make sure the linx was in proper position on the esophagus and to check for any punctures in the esophagus. He also said that he inflated my stomach with air to see if any reflux occurred. I also had an upper gi series (barium swallow) test after the linx to check for reflux and they said I didnt have any. So far swallowing liquids and soft foods seem fine (i dont feel any pain or substance passing the linx). I do have pain and sensation where the linx is when eating bulkier foods. I know when I had meatloaf and mashed potatoes the other night I felt pain and could feel the food passing through the linx. Same with chicken and sweat potoatoes. I was constipated too but took stool softeners which helped alot. Each day seems better. So what kind of preop symptoms were you having before the linx ? When did you have the linx implanted and do you still have any preop symptoms or new symptoms ? Thanks again

It sounds like your doctor was a lot more thorough than mine, I guess that's what one should expect from Johns Hopkins. Mine did not do a scope or a barium swallow following the surgery. I have only just recently been given the option for the barium swallow because I've seen almost no improvement after four weeks. I made a post a couple of days ago called linx surgery 4 week follow up with all the details of my experience so far. I think I know what you're talking about when you feel a little bit uncomfortable with bulky food passing through linx it's not an extremely strong or clear perceivable feeling but it's a vague soreness/tenderness in the area of the linx right? Hi harrison. Any improvement on your condition ? I feel as if im in the same boat as you at the moment. I have had the worst bloating/gas which i believe is pushing the linx open causing me to reflux. Anything i eat causes this horrible bloating. I was told to continue my normal diet post linx but that aint happening. It just feels like food is just sitting in my stomach forever. Hope ur doing better.

Good luck...wish I could help, but I had a Nissen and am clueless about the LINX.
