Do any of you that suffer from GERD, also suffer from Asthma?

 

I do.  According to several articles that I've read, GERD can actually make Asthma worse.

 

The following is an excellent article that I found, thinking that perhaps if any Asthma sufferers were here, they might like to read this.

Hi there. Yes, I suffer from both GERD and asthma. I developed asthma several years ago in my early 40s, GERD in my late 40s. (I'm 50). I'm frustrated cuz my doctor says I have to stay on a maintenance dose of Pariet FOREVER. I was hoping to wean myself off PPIs, but he says that because I suffer from asthma, I have to stay on PPIs forever. Does anyone else suffer from both conditions?

Yes, I do have both Asthma and GERD.  And the GERD definitely aggravates mine!  I take Aciphex and Zantac twice a day, plus am on an Advair Diskus for the Asthma.

I've had asthma since I was a young child -- I'm 47 now. Since I've been an adult I've had very few attacks. I've learned to stay away from the allergens that bother my asthma. My acid reflux has gotten a lot worse in the last six weeks or so and all of a sudden I have been feeling some shortness of breath.
