Bad breathing problem

Let me tell you my story I have had acid reflux for years. I am a thirty year old woman now. I know a lot of you have issues breathing but I want to know if it gets this bad for you. I am having constant sob. Can't get a deep breath in without a lot of effort. Underneath my rt breast it hurts. My chest all along my sternum and the right side feels as if it was paralyzed. I don't know how to better describe it. I feel burning on occasion all along my esophagus and chest. I have trouble breathing all the time now even when I eat I have to take a breath and that makes me fear choking. I went through this about a couple of years ago was in bed for three months from the sob. I could barely eat then cause swallowing was so difficult. Now it has comeback with a vengeance after I drank a Monster. The first time it was triggered by a Vietnamese coffee. I just want to know if anyone is going through the same thing.

My asthma is definitely aggravated by GERD, which is why I'm having surgery in a few weeks. I also have hiatal hernia, which means that when I eat too much at one time, my stomach presses up against my diaphragm, which causes SOB. You should talk to your doc and ask about an upper GI.

I get this as well, I had to stop working because I can't breathe enough to be up and walking around. The Monster would have been the perfect thing to cause it, I have even with sugar-free V, but Monsters were always a guarentee to cause problems, I think its the combo of caffiene and sugar that does it.

Have you had a pH test or manometry? I had nothing show up on my endoscopy except a bit of inflamation, and my barium swallow showed reflux. It was the pH test which uncovered the severity of the reflux and showed how high it was going. You should ask for impedence pH rather than bravo or the standard probe pH test because it can show if you have LPR as well as GERD. The medications are the same but the order/times you take them are difference, because the LPR related symptoms occur primarily at night/when you are lying down. It also doesn't take as much reflux, or for it to be acidic, to irritate your airways because they aren't protected like your esophagus is, thats why you can have LPR but might not feel any heartburn.
