I went for months and months thinking that my pain was in my stomach because it was so high up under the ribs, I didn't listen to any doctors that it was IBS, but I recently finally realised its my colon and if I focus on it I can actually feel it descend into my lower abdomen at times, and that is why no stomach meds have worked. Take a look at this diagram to see how high the colon actually goes, and under the left rib is a very sharp turn

When I eat anything that gets my colon moving, even just water at times, it causes me pain. Its only when I seem to follow a low fibre diet that I get lasting relief from it.
