Hello Michelle!
Welcome to the forum.
BE, while scary, is completely treatable and reversible if managed appropriately. A little about my story...15+ years struggling to control GERD. Tried every medicine and alternative treatment available without success. Fundoplication was the only solution for me. On endoscopy, I had a 4cm wide ring of BE cells around my esophagus. On a follow-up endoscopy a year after surgery, all the BE cells are gone, and so is my reflux. No medicines, no pain, no anything.
It should be noted that less than 1% of all BE cells turn into cancerous cells. If you get your reflux under control and continue on the path to healing and getting better, I would expect any BE cells to heal over time. Best bet is to see your GI and have an endoscopy done (a really great 20 minute nap!) to check the lining of your esophagus for BE cells. And, stay away from Dr. Google in the meantime ;)
Be well and take care,
