Hello all

Just wondering if anyone who's had the fundoplication noticed a return if symptoms when gastritis flares up or considerable weight gain? I have gained weight and lost it again and symptoms disappeared, gained weight again recently due to overindulgence and symptoms are back but nowhere near like they were prior to surgery!

Anyone any insight?

Not a wrapped club member (under 2 weeks to go though) but more weight will put more pressure on the area, making it more likely that some reflux could return. Happy to hear its not as bad as before your surgery though!

Thanks for reply...off to see my doctor today about it and put myself on a diet! Best of luck with the surgery it's given me a new lease of life!

Hi gloopstar!

It is important to note that surgery is meant to get you as back to normal as possible. "Normal" means that you might still get a little hearburn or reflux down the line like someone without GERD would encounter. I've gained some of my weight back (even almost three years later) but haven't had any serious reflux. If I have really spicy food then sometimes I do. But it's a decent trade-off in my book to be free of the pain and suffering I was in prior to surgery!

How are you doing in the new year. Please update us all.
Would like to see other successful members add their comments. They will help so many make a decision 'for' or not to have the surgery done .
It is a hard decision to make . 🤔
