Highest dose of ranitidine

I have just been given my date for my bravo study which is 27th January. I have to stop my Nexium (40mg twice a day) 1 week before. I am so nervous about that as I have been on it for 10 years. Anyway, they have told me I can take ranitidine up to 24 hours before. Does anyone know what the highest dose of it you can take? I will check with my doc but can't see her until 4th Jan!

I was having 300mg ranitadine before bed time. Barry is right though you shouldn't take any acid suppression so close to your test, the whole point of it is to get a baseline of what your reflux is like off meds, so you want it to be at its worst. I was off mine a week before the pH study and yeah it wasn't pleasant but its doable

This is really more of a question for your doctor or a pharmacist. I was taking 150 mg of Zantac twice a day without any issues. My father, was taking 300 mg of Zantac twice a day, but he had an extreme issue with his stomach which involved internal bleeding. The drug, though well tolerated by many people, still might have some side effects.

You should probably start off with a 75 mg pill and see how your body reacts. It takes about 15-25 minutes for it have it's full effect, so you'll know fairly quickly how it affects you, if at all.

I took Zantac 150mg 3x a day and this had helped me. This was only taken for a week then I wean from it.
My doctor said 2 x but my other doctor ok'd for 3x if needed.
