so i have a question, i suffer from mild-moderate bile reflux with Gastritis attacks. My symptoms are bloating, nausea weakness in arms and in legs plus the chills. Sometimes after eating i will feel like theres a brick under my belly near my bladder. Almost like there is stool there or gas wanting out.

I had a hida scan that showed a 63% EF of the ballbladder and the bile reflux part. I also had a positive gastric empty study but my GI and Primary both think it was a false positive because A.) I had the stomach flu the entire week i took the test, B.) I can eat pretty much normally with a small few exceptions (tomato based foods and sauces cause my reflux to act up and so does refried beans). I also have IBS-C which i take lactulose for.

Now that is out of the way, are those symptoms typical with chronic gastritis? If they happen at night, the lactulose i take will make my insides gurgle and i would pass gas, making me feel better. Its super weird (same effect with prunes and prune juice)

Saturday i ate left over dinner from Christmas, felt bloated for a bit then fine. But sunday morning i felt terrible and through out the night. I had all those symptoms including a lumpy feeling in my throat at night and restlessness (could fall alseep only to be jolted awake minutes later)

I'm currently going through my nth bought of chronic gastritis and am on my 3rd gastroenterologist and 2nd nutritionist. Though what you're describing may not be typical symptoms of gastritis, they definitely can be symptoms of gastritis. I've had all the symptoms that you've described (among others).

I also suffer from bile reflux, but after an endoscopy and many other kinds of tests, none of the experts can agree what's causing it.

After years of struggling with this and tons of research and experimenting with different diets, for me the best thing that has helped me more than anything is:

1. Radically changing what I ate and drank, meaning no more processed foods, eating lots of vegetables, some fruits, and staying away from alcohol and anything with caffeine in it.

2. Sleeping with my entire body elevated (easily done by putting bed risers underneath the head of your bed).

3. Eating small meals throughout the day. I eat very tiny meals every 2-3 hours throughout the day.

Foods that I've found have great healing properties, especially during the first 30-45 days are: homemade applesauce, sauerkraut juice (start with small quantities), bone broth, vegetable soup, small amounts of steamed white rice.

Since you have IBS have you been tested for SIBO (Bacteria overgrowth)? You may want to try a probiotic daily for the next 4-6 weeks to see if that helps your IBS as well.

How are you doing.

Yes, for me too, the diet plays an important rule on my situation. Eating small portion and taking notes what i ate to at least figure out what are my food sensitivities. My situation started last June 2015, E.R visit due to difficulty breathing and after all test, Xray and Ct scan was diagnosed with GERD. My doctor had me on PPI for 6 weeks. After taking PPI I had developed food sensitivities and delayed gastric emptying. The PPI did not helped me as I had Low acid stomach. This was developed due to taking antibiotics for 3 months in a row (on and off).

Though it's tough, I stayed away from stressful situations but still had anxiety attack and difficulty sleeping. I did and still do a lot of prayers and this had tremendously helped me recover. (My personal experience).

Thanks for the replies. I have found that people with chronic gastritis often have those symptoms. Being because it is inflammation afterall.

another question, does anyone get these symptoms without the burning? I will get the lump in my throat sometimes, the majority of the time i dont get the burning sensation

Hi. I feel nausea, bloating and the chills, specially in the neck. Not always, but when I do get the symptons, is hell. Nausea kills me, I can't eat properly. When I burp, I start to get better. I hardly feel any burning. Also, the sleep problem those times is the same, I fall asleep and wake right after.

If you've read mine I had crazy symptoms and it finally turned out that I have gallbladder sludge and will probs have my gallbladder taken out. My HIDA scan was a 38 but I was having a great day that day and that's why I think I got the false positive test although a 38 isn't stellar. I'd look into your gallbladder more I had every test there is all show perfectly healthy so I feel your pain.

The link you posted has inaccurate information.

Inflammation of the stomach lining is not the cause of gastritis, the gastritis causes the inflammation, usually due to other reasons. The big question is what is causing the gastritis. Gastritis, along with acid reflux and GERD, can often be linked to other illnesses in the body.

Gastritis often occurs from stress and lifestyle choices, but once the stress is resolved then so should the gastritis. H-pylori can also cause gastritis. I have even read where people had gastritis, only to be diagnosed with lupus or chrons disease or celiac disease. It's important to get to the bottom of what is causing the gastritis, and this can often be done via endoscope.

I'll also add another cause for gastritis is the continued use of ibuprofen.
