How long should to try take a gerd medication before knowing if it works or not though.

I have the gerd mediation for awhile. I have been trying out taking different gerd medication though I haven't found one that works yet. I was wondering how long I should try each other in order to know which one works though. Or is it possible that gerd medications don't work for me. Does anyone know though. Thanks.

Depends what kind of medicine you use. Medicine like Zantac (ranitidine) should work within the hour. Medicine like Gaviscon should work instantly. PPIs like Prilosec and Protonix should work within a week. However, after reading many different posts and forums PPIs depend on the person as they may react differently depending on the person.. It could take a month for them to work. Go to a doctor and follow their prescription dosage.
