I was wondering if anyone of you were from New York, I live in long Island New York. I had my surgey three years ago and the doctor I had last time works out Of LIJ. I was wondering if anyone else from New York had this and who was there doctor? IF you did have the surgery how old are you?

Hi I am also from long Island. My son's GI is out of LIJ, I was wondering who you used for the Nissen? We just did the TIF procedure in NYC 12/8/15, my son is only 17 so I didn't want to start off with the Nissen, we tried the TIF first. I hope you are on your way to getting this resolved!

I am on Long Island also. I had the MUSE Medigus with Dr Starpoli at Lenox Hill 3 days ago. The pain and trouble "eating" was worse than I expected. I am finally feeling a little better as I write this. My main question is when can I eat again and will this pain go up and down or does it get progressively better?

Hope you are both doing well post procedure.

We saw Dr. Starpoli in August for a consult for TIF, but went with another doc in NYC for the procedure. I guess he started doing MUSE now? I do not know about "eating" yet, with the TIF you can only have a liquid diet for the first 2 weeks, followed by soft food for 6 weeks. My 17 year old had no pain following his TIF, just some discomfort at the site for a few days. I hope you feel better soon. If you have questions, you can go on Dr. Starpoli's website and there is an email address that he always answers within a few hours...I communicated with him quite a few times before and after our appointment consult. I would ask him.

yes, he is very good about communicating. I just wanted to compare notes with others who had it done. I went to him for the TIF he gave me the option of the MUSE and I went with that. I hope it will be longer-lasting. Today is 4th day, and I am feeling SOOOO much better. Thnx :)

No problem, glad you are feeling better. Did he give you a comparison of longetivity for both procedures? We saw him in August, and he wasn't doing Muse yet. We went with TIF because it seemed like the best option at the time. I am curious as to what he says the longterm outcome is projected for MUSE and TIF. Did he say how long each was supposed to last?

I went to him in November. He did his first MUSE in November. I was his second. He was very clear about no guarantees. He said TIFs can last 5-10 years and can and have been redone. The MUSE is new so they don't know yet, but it seems that staples should last longer than stitches. So I am hoping for more than 10. Maybe forever? That would be great :)
