You might need upper GI testing to rule out esophages motility problems. I had the surgery 7 months ago, and no more acid reflux, however, the chest pain became excruciating and so I had high resolution manometry and diagnosis is 'Jackhammer Esophagus'.
I am heavily medicated but now the pain is under control. This is a nasty condition and I will most likely need meds for the rest of my life, unless the nerves in the esophagus can heal now that my GERD has been cured.
Best of luck to you.
