Nissen fundoplication 10 years later came undone?

10 years ago I had a full wrap done. My doctor gave me a new beautiful life free from GERD. I've had no problems at all until about 2 months now, I think it's coming undone. I'm now waking up in the middle of the night with bad reflux, able to burp again and food is coming back up, all the same problems I was having before surgery.
Today I went to my first GI appointment to start the process to see if it's come undone and possibly having another Nissen done.
Anyone have their wrap come undone years later and had another surgery to have a new wrap done?

Glad to hear your wrap lasted you ten years. I had to have my wrap redone after 11 months. I was symptom/medication free for about 7 months then started having all the same problems you mentioned. Started with tests from gastro dr. to check wrap, barium swallow showed reoccurrence of hernia and wrap slipping. Dr. said things look okay-start taking nexium. Asked for endoscopy which showed my esophagus was showing scaring from aid erosion. dr. said keep taking nexium. Went to surgeon, he asked to take 24hr bravo test. Results showed significant reflux. Just had my wrap redone and hernia redone/repaired with mesh this time. Surgery went well and since I knew what to expect I've been doing great mentally. I'm sure I overdid myself during my recovery the first time so I'm really taking things slow. I had my surgery redo on Monday 2/8/16 so things are still very early but moving along nicely. Surgeon was able to undo everything previously done and redo without any complications.
You know your body better than anyone so please be your own advocate. Hopefully you have a better gastro dr. than I did.

Thank you for your reply. I hope this one will last many years for you. The months 7 months you were free from symptoms were like having a new life im sure, the 10 years were for me. My original surgeon I got lucky because he teaches other doctors to do this procedure so I knew I was in great hands. Now I'm 3000 miles away and just praying if I have a redo I'll have a great surgeon. Thank you again for your reply and I wish you the best. Boston MA here by the way.

Even though my post may not be too helpful I posted in hopes of gettting your post some traction. I know there are others here with redo stories closer to where you're located. I'm in Texas so not much help.

Hi jriennox my wrap lasted 10 yrs also but took another 4 to find out that it was tight but tilted. I had second wrap a year ago. It went from 360 to 180. Sorry I' m in UK but thought it would be useful to know it can be done again
