fundoplication

I've had GERD for so many years I can;t remember how long. I've been on Omeperazole for that many years as well, probably 12 to 14 years. Well the GERD has been so bad lately that I've had an EGD, increased my Omeperazole and now added Carafate. I'm still having the same problems, mostly strong chest pain. The pain has been so bad I thought about going to ER but figured it was just GERD. I also have gastroparesis. My last EGD showed that I now have stomach polyps most likely due to the Omeperazole and osteopenia also most like due to taking PPI's for so long. I'm considerng asking my GI if I should consider a Nissen Fundoplication. Any thoughts from anyone who has had these kind of troubles and or experience with the surgery. One other problem is I have uncoordinated esophageal contractions. I've read that can be a reason why I wouldn't qualify for the surgery. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have a hiatal hernia and I've had a manommetry. I haven't had the PH test but I've had pretty much every other test regarding the GI track. I haven't heard of jackhammer esophagus. If possible I'd like to hear more about it. I really don't want to have the surgery but I'm getting desperate for relief.
