pain principle

I have hiatal hernia as well as scare tissue from a birth operation on my stomach. I have had a motility test but the surgeon said so far it inoperable. My diaphragm area burns some and at time I feel like I want to throw up but cannot. My appetite suffers sometimes. I really cannot tell if it's hunger pain or diagram problems until food hits my mouth. I feel some nausea then.
Any symptom has more than one cause. One must differentiate and strive to relieve the most intense symptom first. Ice helps. I call this the pain principle and one must learn to live with the lessor symptom.

Sorry to hear that. Did you see a gastric doctor as well? if the surgeon says nothing can be done, then he would refer you to someone. Ice numbs the pain, but the inflammation doesn't go away.

I had a hiatal hernia too. It's naturally formed and not caused by trauma. I am not even sure if it has something to do with my acid reflux, I believe my lifestyle contributes more (I have a stressful job).

I see my Gaso surgeon Friday. The ER I went to took scans of my 2 visits and sent them to this doctor. Wish me good luck.
