In hope that you are doing well. I know your story from older posts. I just want to ask you what were your symptoms before redo?

I think that you are familiar with my story... still having burning in upper abdomen after fundoplication and pH metry normal. Manometry not normal but not as bad also.

My firs theory is that it is just functional heartburn from stress. Second is too tight wrap....but y have no regirgitation feeling or nausea, just burning especially after something acidic like juice.

I wanted to ask you if you also suffered from burning pains or just regurgitation and nausea?

Hi Martin, sorry i havent been on the forum for a while,i just seen this by chance.
My symtoms before redo were mainly nausea,acid reflux feeling (which was food sitting in my esophagus and feels exactly like acid reflux) and just generally unwell.
I had tests after first fundo and they could see nothing wrong,i did have a dilation at the six month mark which was an improvement but i still felt ill.
As soon as i woke up from the redo i felt 100% better,the first wrap was too tight for me.
When did you have your surgery and did you have manometry before it, did you have a full 360 wrap?
It can take some time for a fundoplication to settle down,i would say a 6 months to a year.

Hi, my problems were definitely in my esophagus,i couldn't eat things like oranges or any fruit infact,my diet consisted of sloppy foods and boost style drinks, i would struggle on anything solid. I had a dilation at six months and i remember eating more solid type foods but it would take 20 minutes or more to pass through which was a nightmare at times.
I have no idea what would be causing your burning,have you tried any ppi's or h2 blockers to see if it helps,though it's pretty rare to get any reflux after a fundoplication.
Maybe you will just have to avoid citrus fruits and alcohol.
I can eat everthing i want now and also drink alcohol though not like i used to,i would get bloating if i over do it.

Hi Martin, was thinking about this last night. Maybe you're getting very small amounts of fruit and alcohol left in bottom of your esophagus which are not clearing completely,this would explain the burning sensations you're having.
Maybe with bit more time it will resolve itself or you could consider a gentle dilation if it's causing a lot of problems.
I fully understand you about the stress Martin,it's not good, i would say that was the root cause of my reflux. Try and stay relaxed and positive,easy to say i know.
