Prior to my surgery I had reflux 24/7. Standing up, laying down, water, coffee, etc. PPIs were non-responsive as my reflux is bile reflux. My physician delayed surgery for five years, and as the reflux worsened over this time, finally approved surgery.
I'm 7 weeks post op and trying to remember what normal is.
Prior to the operation, I had severe water brash 24/7, at night lying down I could swallow count to two and hear the gurgle up to my throat. I always felt I had a bubble at my throat.
First night post op, I noticed if on my back I could swallow and still hear the gurgle with no saliva (more like air).
As stated, I'm 7 weeks post op and recovery wasn't all that bad. I did have dumping from time to time, esophageal spasms from time to time, but those has ceased. My wrap does not like dairy yogurt. I can tell the wrap is there and working as it puts pressure on the wrap. My concerns are my wrap is to loose though.
1) At night, I can swallow still hear gurgle (I think I am refluxing again) If I ly on either side, it doesn't happen.
2) throught the day I notice light water brash (I honestly don't know if it is saliva at normal levels or light reflux, or salvia just hitting the wrap).
I'm frustrated as I don't know what my new normal is, or what normal was...
I just hope my surgery was as much of a success as I want it to be, and I don't have to go back on a ppi due to the dementia risks.
How has anyone elses recovery been?
