UPDATE!! Its been 6 months of more pain and frustration. Most of my pain now is between my shoulder blades, and in my chest following the path my esophagus would take. Really still feels like my heart! Tonight is bad, so I came looking for answers again. For the past 3 weeks my BP has started spiking some nights, between 6 and 9 pm. Because of what I ate? Because my BP med is due? I take Losartan 25mcg. My BP was being well controlled until these night spikes started. My throat feels "swollen" inside. My soft palate and tongue are numb a lot. Odd thing is, my arms aren't as involved as they used to be. The BP spike gives me a headache. By spike, I mean it hits as high as 166/96. I am usually 120/70, so this feels AWFUL and comes on rapidly. It lasts for hours.
Since this all started in Nov. of 2015, I now have these tests completed:
Two stress echos with dye
US of heart
24 hr BP monitor
Sleep apnea testing (home) w failed CPap attempt
Numerous ECGs
MRI of brain (my right eyelid has drooped)
CT cervical spine
CT of abdomen and pelvis
Endoscopy (clear)
Barium swallow (clear)
US abdomen/gallbladder
HIDA scan (clear)
EMG testing of nerves in hands, arms, neck, shoulders(no nerve damage)
Pelvic US
Colonoscopy (clear)
US of thyroid (passsed)
Myasthenia gravis test (clear)
Retest of thyroid levels (levels good)
I asked if my Hashimotos Thyroid could have reversed from hypo to hyper to cause the symptoms. So, they retested. Nope.
Conditions known: Hypertension (treated), Hypothyroid (synthroid), Degen. Arthritis C2-C7 cervical spine, GERD, Hypotrophic left ventricle per the stress echo, small calcifications on liver (Dr not concerned), two small nodules in lung (Dr not concerned), 13mm uterine fibroid (Gyne Dr not concerned). All of the gastro and gall bladder tests, nothing found! So, I am having an US of my carotids in three days and I am referred to an ENT doctor because my throat always feels tight inside or obstructed though the tests show nothing. My regular Dr is out of ideas and says "see you in 6 months". I am calling him tomorrow about this BP issue, it's unerving and giving me insomnia. The cardio, gastro, endocrine, neuro doctors have all written me off. They act like I am nuts. I am not a nervous, excitable or anxious person. The only thing making me anxious is the darn feeling in my chest/throat, sometimes into my face when this flares.
I thank you all for your input and suggestions. I have had two months physical therapy on shoulders, neck, back. They added mild manipulation of spine and neck traction which I DID NOT like, I left with massive headaches. A chiropractor pushing on my already degenrative neck scares the bejeezus out of me, so, I'm not sure I can make myself try that. Too many "stroke after neck manipulation" stories out there.
With my heavy family history of heart disease and stroke, I still worry they've missed something every time my BP spikes. On the upside, I've lost 20 lbs due to the forced "eating less and mostly bland food" diet and people tell me I look great! Haha So, I've got that going for me.
Thanks again!
